The International Day for Persons Living with Disabilities

This year, our Centre was selected to host the main Kajiado County Celebrations to mark the International Day for Persons Living with Disabilities.

To best interpret the theme this year: " Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World ", The Centre which continues to demonstrate its commitment to vulnerable groups during this difficult time, had lined up the following activities;

  1. Report on the Joint Emergency Intervention Program together with the Kajiado County Government – Currently we have received 270 children with mental conditions and syndromes who come to the Centre daily to receive rehabilitation and early intervention to prevent regression.
  2. Opening of new hygienic facilities for persons living with disabilities sponsored by Manos Unidas Foundation from Spain.
  3. Launch of a 1-year Campaign Against Malnutrition where 400 children will benefit supported by Peanut Butter Project
  4. Launch of Home-Based Rehabilitation Care Services for persons with special needs supported by Hickey Family Foundation from United States of America.

Among other key stakeholders and partners not forgetting our beneficiaries and main celebrants of the day – Our children and youth with mental conditions and syndromes.

The Centre will also received special recognition for its contribution during this difficult time of the COVID 19 pandemic by the United Nations special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility Ms. Maria Soledad Cisternas Reyes of Chile.
